Wakefield Park
Following on from my previous post on my track preparations, today I set out to Wakefield Park to participate in the NSCC trackday. Since it was the first time out on the track with the roadster, I tried to take caution for the first session but little did I know that a cold track and 4 year old Falken RT215s do not mix very well. My first two sessions consisted of a lot of sliding around - which was fun - but did not help with my lap times. Going at 8/10th meant that the rear end would continuously wag around and this happened very frequently and were a few occasions where the oversteer was so severe that my amateur wheel skills could not comprehend, leaving me spinning out - scary but fun!
As the day wore on,I began to feel more confident in the car but I had reached close to the limits of the tyres as they were very slippery even when warm. Of the 6 sessions I went in, there were 4 timed sessions where I yielded a best time of 1:18.485 which was a lot slower than I had planned. For the next track day I will try to get a set of fresh tyres and will aim to better this benchmark time.
