David (.:JDM/Dave:.)

Where it all started, when it’s still yet to start.

Roadster Life reader, Dave, shows us that you don’t have to be a Roadster owner in order to have the Roadster spirit …

For me, it began when I typed the word ‘JDM’ into Google after hearing the now generally coined term for a culture (and almost way of life) that Japanese car lovers are so proud to embrace. After pushing enter I found jdmstyletuning.com and quickly signed up. Shortly after joining, I started chatting to members and salivating over various rides. A few in particular stood out to me, two cars to be precise. A white clubman and a red clubman (as seen above), both NA8 Roadsters.

From a young age I admired the NA for its compactly, almost cute stature. Growing up a little through my teenage years, I never really thought they could be what the ‘other imports’ were, nor have the same presence — ‘was I wrong or what!’. It was these two  cars which made me realize they could be and were so so much more. JDMST’s thriving community, abundant with roadster love, not only informed me, but inspired me to aspire.

Still to this day I’m saving for an NA6/8, it’s only been around 2 years since the desire was ignited but the day of ownership is becoming ever closer. I’m pretty sure I’m the only person I know who has purchased countless issues of Hyper Rev and Road&Ster Magazine for a car they are yet to own.

Recently I found ‘Roadster Life’ and I really appreciate the effort and spirit that goes into every post, It really brings back the emotion and passion found in the pages of a true enthusiasts magazine such as Road&Ster. Although I’m not yet an owner, and this story probably seems a bit fan-boyish- I know I won’t be disappointed the day I hand those hard saved dollars over for an ‘open top FR dream box’ that I so longingly aspired to finally attain.
